Feb. 19, 2026 — Coventry, Conn. Azzi Fudd’s parents, Katie and Tim Fudd, along with grandparents Karen and Tom Duffy, shared emotional reflections on the UConn women’s basketball star’s senior season and the family’s Coventry cottage, purchased in 2021 as a home base during her college career, in recent media appearances.

The CT Insider feature detailed the small white cottage off Main Street, adorned with UConn memorabilia including signed posters, Final Four shadow boxes and a No. 5 jersey. The property, dating to 1844, served as a gathering spot for family, teammates and friends over five years, hosting dinners, podcast recordings and even a basement sauna installed with Azzi’s help.

Katie Fudd, a former Georgetown and NC State basketball player with 2,172 career points and 3x All-Big East honors, and Tim Fudd, a former player and coach, travel from Arlington, Virginia, to Connecticut twice weekly during the season. Azzi Fudd parents have attended nearly every game, embodying deep family basketball roots—Katie named Azzi after Olympian Jennifer Azzi.

Family Interview Reflections

In a Fox61 YouTube interview filmed Feb. 11 at the cottage, Azzi Fudd’s parents conveyed joy in her health recovery and on-court happiness.

“Seeing her just be good. People ask me, ‘How is she?’ Like, ‘She’s just good deep down.’ And you can just see it. You can feel it. Like she just emanates. I’m good. I’m happy. I am. I’m where I am supposed to be.” — Katie Fudd

“It’s been amazing to see her in her element enjoying herself, smiling big and doing everything that she’s always done… very sad to see it end, but it’s been an incredible uh incredible five years here, and we’ve just been thrilled to be on her journey with her.” — Tim Fudd

Grandparents Karen and Tom Duffy, who winter in the cottage, emphasized quality family time. Tom, nicknamed “UConn’s Irish Papa,” retired to prioritize presence, while Karen noted Azzi’s unique appreciation for grandparents nearby.

“It’s the opportunity to really — I mean, we just spend some great, great quality time together… we didn’t have the opportunity to really have this kind of quality time. And I think that that has been just, I think that’s been just amazing.” — Karen Duffy
